Back 2 School Projects

So today is day two of the KK8 day focus on back to school projects.  We specifically had to use apples in our projects.
Since my little one hasn't started school yet I couldn't do a layout so I had to get my ideas flowing.  I came up with an altered wipes case.  I went out and found a school themed paper, with apples of course, and a set of school stickers.  I had the wipes case around the house already since we recently finished potty training.  The whole project took two sheets of paper, one patterned and one solid, and one pack of stickers.  Total cost...maybe $3.00

I also chose to decorate the top so that you couldn't see the brand name of the wipes.
Now think of all the cool things you could fill this with!  Depending on the child's age maybe leaving it filled with wipes is still the way to go.  If not, about 9-12 packs of pocket size tissues would fit in here.  It could fit about 10-11 packs of colored pencils.  Maybe 9 small boxes of crayons.  Or if you want to be a really good parent fill it with miniature candy bars!
With the scrap of patterned paper, and stickers, I had left I made a card to write M's daycare teacher a note.
I hope this has inspired you to try something new, and please head on over to the KK8 blog to see what the rest of the design team has come up with for back to school.

Fun In The Sun Page

I really wanted to show you all this page because I'm rather proud of the sun element, as it was my first succesful attempt at making my own embellishments. As you all know, any type of embellishment at the store that is dimensional that gotten crazy expensive. My solution has been to try to use things I have to create dimensional elements myself.
The sun is made from two different card stocks.  They are similar, but just slightly different is hue and one is textured.  It makes for a really nice effect.  The bursts are washi tape my friend La-Vie gifted me, and the yellow bling is from my friend Meka

I think this has given the the spark to try other types of homemade embellishements.  What about you? Do you create any of your own or are you strictly store bought...and why?

Kraftie Kre8ations Design Team Reveal and Blog Hop

Kraftie Kre8ations is proud to have this opportunity to introduce our "new design team" members.   We have a talented group of ladies starting this month.  Here is their opportunity to introduce themselves and for us to allow them to truly shine.  Just wait until you see what they have to show you on this hop!  Our sponsor for this hop is Stampin Up!

So for the hop we were asked to create an artist trading card that shows who we are.  My first card shows the life I always thought I'd have.  I would travel or live somewhere abroad, Paris was my first choice, and it would just be me.

Well, then I met the man who would become my husband and my how things have changed!  We travelled before we had M, but choose to stick somewhere closer to home now.  You know what!? Even though it's not what I imaged...I wouldn't trade it for the world!  I love very part of our life. Okay, I lie...I hate to have to go to work, but who doesn't!
We also were given a few questions, and photos to post to help you get to know us better.

What is my scrapbook "kryptonite" or what will you never see on my pages?  The answer is probably two things - feathers and cartoon people.  I don't mean like Woody from Toy Story, but just cut out of people that don't look real...it's just not my thing.

What do I like to watch or listen to while I scrap and why?  I am usually listening to some sort of Disney or Pixar movie, as I do most of my scrapping when M is winding down watching a movie. If I happen to be alone I'll put on an old favorite movie. I don't tend to watch new things because I'll miss something in either the movie or the project.
Two Old Favorites

How do I jump start my creativity when it's missing?  Pinterest or Google images.  I'll do a quick search for scrapbook sketches or the topic I'm working on and I usually find something that speaks to me.  If it's really bad I'll walk away, get something else done, and come back to it.
At what time of day and I most creative or do I prefer to work?  I'm usually up at 5:30 for work and I find on the weekend even when my family sleeps in I'm often the first one up.  I like to sneak down to my table and work in the peace and quiet before the hub ub of the day begins.
A New Favorite
What is my favorite technique right now and what are some tried and true that I love?  Glitter of any kind and matchy matchy.  I really am one of those people who likes all my things to match perfectly.  It's why I've given in to buying paper pack rather than single sheets since I know they all match.
So now let me tell you how this hop is going to work!   After the hop, we will select the lucky winner from those who commented along the way, and became a new follower of the Kraftie Kre8ations's Blog, which is the last stop on on the blog trail. We hope that you enjoy our welcoming blog hop!

Good luck and happy hopping!

ScrapStuffz "Inspired By" August Challenge

It's time for another fun ScrapStuffz challenge.  For August we were given this awesome beach picture.  Who couldn't gain some inspiration from this!?
Anything to do with the beach is always easy for me since we go there every year for vacation.  I went a slightly different direction though and used the chair colors and water and scrapped pictures from the first time our son went in the pool.
The waves were hand cut out and then misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  You can't tell from the photo, but they aren't all completely covered, and then i anchored them down with a pop dot on alternating waves.  The effect gives a lot of movement to them making it look much more real.  The ribbon obviously mimics the waves.
The banner and Hello Summer are both from the Echo Park Paradise Beach collection.  The banner is a sticker and the Hello Summer was almost like a project life card.  I used my exacto knife and cut the words out and used pop dots on that as well.
I'd have liked to use hidden journalling on this, but wanted to bring more yellow into the picture so I used a turquoise marker on the yellow paper to tie it all together.  How would you have done the journalling if this was your page?
I again can't wait to see what inspires you about the pictures and what you create with that!
